Outsourced peace of mind IT support.

Vinca Managed IT is a local managed service provider for small businesses across Sonoma and Napa counties — the IT department you would hire if hiring one made sense.

Why we started

Most businesses in this valley are too small to justify a full-time IT hire and too complex to run on a nephew who is good with computers. So technology gets handled the way most things get handled when nobody owns them: reactively, at the worst possible moment, by whoever is closest.

Vinca Managed IT was founded in 2026 to sit in that gap. We take on the whole technology footprint of a 10–100 person business — the help desk, the servers, the network, the security, and increasingly the website and search presence too — for less than the cost of one salaried employee.

We are deliberately local. We work with businesses we can drive to, in industries we understand, and we would rather have a small number of clients who know our name than a call center full of ticket numbers.

How we work

Plain language, always

You should never need a translator to understand your own IT. We explain what broke, what it costs, and what we recommend — without the acronyms.

Proactive, not reactive

Break-fix means you only hear from your IT provider when something is already on fire. We monitor, patch, and plan so the fire never starts.

Local, and on-site when it matters

Most issues get solved remotely in minutes. But when a switch dies or a tasting room loses WiFi on a Saturday, we can be there.

One team for all of it

Help desk, servers, network, security, and your website. One number to call instead of four vendors pointing at each other.

Getting started

Onboarding a new client follows the same three steps every time.

  1. 01

    Assess

We inventory what you have — devices, servers, cloud accounts, network gear, and who has access to what. Most businesses have never seen this written down.

  2. 02

    Stabilize

We fix what is actively hurting you and close the obvious gaps: unpatched machines, missing backups, shared passwords, aging hardware.

  3. 03

    Maintain

Ongoing monitoring, help desk support, and a roadmap so hardware and licensing get replaced on your schedule instead of on failure.

Who we serve

We work with businesses of 10–100 employees. These are the industries we know best.

Wine & Beverage

Production floors, tasting rooms, POS systems, and compliance reporting — often across multiple sites with spotty connectivity.

Hospitality

Guest WiFi, reservation and POS platforms, and uptime during your busiest hours, when downtime costs the most.

Cannabis

Seed-to-sale tracking, surveillance retention requirements, and the security posture regulators expect.

Agriculture

Outdoor and long-range wireless, remote buildings, and equipment far from the nearest network closet.

Who you will be working with

Vinca Managed IT is owned and run by its two founders. When you call, you are talking to someone accountable for your systems — not a rotating queue.

Portrait of Richard Powell

Richard Powell

Co-Founder

Richard has been helping Sonoma County businesses with technology since 2012. He started out building websites in the music industry, and soon became the person those clients called about their networks, their security, and anything else with a plug.

He later managed the network for a digital production agency in Los Angeles. His automation work there saved the team hundreds of hours, and he learned to explain technology to the people paying for it.

Richard holds degrees in both IT and fine art. Outside of work, he volunteers with community arts and natural conservation efforts and still makes the occasional concert poster. He believes good IT starts with knowing the people who depend on it.

Joel Jones-Marino

Co-Founder

Joel has been fascinated by technology, and by the support it takes to use it well, since his first “ticket” at age six: his mother’s broken VCR.

Since then he’s built a varied career in tech. He has created and installed interactive art pieces at several Napa Valley Wine Auctions and revived render farms for VR and AR production. Most recently he served as CTO of a holographic video company. He first built its production pipeline, then scaled it up with an expansive cloud-based rendering system.

Joel has kept systems running when the stakes were high and the technology was brand new, so a small business network holds few surprises for him. He’s just as comfortable explaining it as he is fixing it.
